The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued a red alert on Monday as dense fog continues to cover parts of the UAE, urging residents to remain vigilant due to the reduced visibility and potential road hazards. This alert, the highest warning level, indicates conditions may become severe, requiring extra caution.

Visibility Warnings and Motorist Advisory

The NCM reported that horizontal visibility has dropped significantly and could decrease further in certain coastal and inland areas until 9 a.m. In response, Abu Dhabi Police reminded drivers on X (formerly Twitter) to exercise caution on the roads, especially in foggy conditions. Drivers are advised to follow the updated speed limits displayed on electronic road signs to ensure safety.

Winter Weather and Fog Trends

As the UAE shifts into winter, foggy mornings are becoming more frequent, with the weather starting to cool down. Recent temperatures have shown a range from as low as 14.7°C, rising to about 34°C along coastal areas, and dropping to 16°C in mountainous regions.

Humidity and Cloudy Conditions Expected

According to NCM, residents can expect more humid nights and early mornings, with a chance of fog or mist over some coastal and inland areas through Tuesday. While the day is likely to remain mostly clear with occasional clouds, light to moderate winds are expected across the country.

Sea Conditions

For those near the coast, the sea will remain calm in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea, ensuring smooth sailing conditions for now.
