Dubai's airline Emirates will add two additional flights per week to the Dubai-Toronto route from April 20th, and these flights will be operated via Emirates' A380 superjumbos.

The move has been taken to serve the increasing travel demand between the two countries and it followed the signing of an agreement between UAE and Canada on Wednesday. The agreement emphasized the improvement of their bilateral relationships and approved increasing flights between the two countries.

With the additional two flights, Emirates is increasing passenger capacity to 2,000 weekly seats for this route, which means that the airline will provide more than 6,800 seats per week to Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Emirates has been flying to Toronto for 15 years, however the flights between the two countries are limited because they do not have an Open Skies Agreement. The new agreement will not only improve ties between the countries, but also improve air traffic and serve travellers from both countries because leisure and corporate travellers as well as diasporas and students struggle to secure seats within the current allocated flight capacities.

In 2022, Emirates and Air Canada signed a codeshare deal to cover 46 destinations across North America, the Middle East, Africa, South East Asia, and India.
