Sources close to Twitter revealed that Elon Musk plans to start laying off workers at Twitter which has around 7,500 employees starting this week, and it is noteworthy that Musk had ordered the cuts across the Company, with some departments shrinking more than others, but the size of the layoff is not determined.
Reports of layoffs have been circulating since Musk agreed to buy the Company in April, and Twitter is said to be laying off workers before November 1, when employees are scheduled to receive stock grants as part of their compensation.
Musk has moved quickly since taking ownership of Twitter on Thursday and began meeting employees. Late on Thursday, he fired the Company's Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and other executives.
It is unlikely that Musk would pay the huge sums that were to be received by senior Twitter executives who were fired under the merger agreement, as Musk terminated the executives "for a reason", which could invalidate that agreement.
