The Dubai government has declared a four-day holiday for public sector employees to celebrate Eid al-Adha, starting on Saturday, June 15, and ending on Tuesday, June 18. Government offices will reopen on Wednesday, June 19.
Exceptions will be made for employees in certain departments and institutions who work in shifts or provide essential public services. These organizations will adjust working hours as necessary to ensure uninterrupted operations during the holiday.
Earlier, the Federal Authority of Human Resources confirmed that the public sector holidays would be from June 15 to June 18. Government offices will close during these days, allowing employees to celebrate one of Islam's most significant festivals.
Following this, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced that the private sector will also observe holidays from June 15 to June 18, based on the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah 1445 crescent from Abu Dhabi on Friday, June 7.
Arafah Day, the holiest day in Islam, falls on Dhul Hijjah 9, which corresponds to June 15 this year. The three-day Eid al-Adha holiday, celebrated from Dhul Hijjah 10 to 12, will be observed from June 16 to June 18, making it a four-day break in total.
Eid al-Adha commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God, and it is marked by communal prayers, feasts, and charitable activities. The festival is marked by prayer, reflection, and acts of charity, fostering community spirit and generosity.
