As per the Emirates Astronomical Society, the initial day of Eid Al Fitr is anticipated to be on April 21, which is a Friday.
“Most likely, Ramadan this year will be for 29 days. Eid Al Fitr and the first of Shawwal will be on Friday, April 21,” stated Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the society's board of directors.
According to the astronomical calculations, it is expected that the Eid Al Fitr holiday in the UAE will be observed from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3, which is likely to fall between Thursday, April 20, and Sunday, April 23. However, the exact date of the holiday's beginning will be confirmed by the Moon-sighting committee at a later time.
The Islamic calendar is based on the cycles of the moon and consists of 12 lunar months, which may have either 354 or 355 days. The dates for observances such as Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr change by up to 10 days earlier each year in the Gregorian calendar. Eid Al Fitr is one of the two significant religious festivals celebrated by Muslims all over the world.
