Saudi Arabia's taekwondo athlete Dunya Abutaleb lost against Iran's Mobina Nematzadeh and missed her chance of winning a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Abutaleb lost with a score of 2-0 in the women's -49kg and missed the chance of becoming Saudi Arabia's first-ever female Olympic medallist.
In the first round, The Iranian athlete won with a score of 3-0 because she sneaked in a kick with just a few seconds on the clock and in the final round, Nematzadeh secured the bronze medal with a scorpion kick.
The loss came after Abutaleb defeated Israel’s Abishag Semberg, but she was defeated by Panipak Wongpattanakit in the quarterfinals.
