Dubai’s much-anticipated winter camping season will kick off on October 21, 2024, and run until April 2025, according to an announcement from the Dubai Municipality. The Al Aweer desert has been designated as the official site for temporary camps this season, providing a secure and fully equipped environment for families and individuals to enjoy Dubai’s cooler months.
Permits and Fees for Campers
To participate, campers must obtain a permit valid for a minimum of three months and up to six months. The permit cost is 44 fils per square meter, with a maximum space of 400 square meters allowed per camp. This season, the municipality has allocated specific commercial zones where businesses can apply for permits to offer camping supplies and related services.
Permits will outline the exact boundaries for each camp, and campers are required to follow strict safety and operational guidelines. Only family-related activities and camping are allowed within the designated areas.
Safety and Compliance Rules
Safety is a top priority for Dubai Municipality. Camps must be fenced, and any unauthorized structures or use of land outside the permit area are strictly prohibited. Fireworks are completely banned, and campers must adhere to public health standards, fire safety regulations, and cleanliness requirements. Each camp must be equipped with fire extinguishers, and the speed limit for bikes in the camping area is set at 20km/h. Flashlights and loudspeakers are also not permitted.
How to Apply for Permits
Campers can apply for permits through the Dubai Municipality website, the Dubai Now app, or the Dubai Building Permit System. By streamlining the process, the authority ensures that campers can enjoy a smooth experience while adhering to all rules.
