'100 Millions Meals': Dubai Art Auction Raises AED36.6 Million
The '100 Million Meals' charity art auction, held in Dubai on Saturday to raise funds to provide food aid for the less fortunate communities in 30 countries, has featured rare artworks and masterpieces from the private collections of leading contemporary artists and world leaders.

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has announced the launch of ‘100 million meals campaign’ – the largest campaign of its kind in the region, earlier this Ramadan.
In light of that the charity art auction has raised AED36.5 million for the ‘100Million Meals’.
The auction took place at the Mandarin Oriental Jumeira in Dubai, and was attended by Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, Florian Picasso, the great grandson of the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso; Sacha Jafri, Guinness World Records Holder and British Artist; Sima Ved, Founder & Chairwoman of Apparel Group, and many more, and was hosted by Jonny Gould.
It will go towards feeding 36,673,000 people in need across 30 countries during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
British artist Sacha Jafri’s artwork raised the highest bid of $4.2 million, while a Kaaba Cover, part of the personal collection of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, was sold for $2.7 million.
The campaign, which had achieved its target on Thursday by raising AED100 million in just 10 days, continues to accept donations.
