Dubai's tourism sector continues to thrive as it welcomes over 5.18 million international visitors in the first quarter of 2024, representing an impressive 11 percent year-on-year increase.
The surge in tourism numbers underscores Dubai's status as a global travel hub, with hotels experiencing an average occupancy rate of 83 percent.
The influx of overnight tourists was led by Western Europe, contributing 22 percent to the total growth, followed by significant contributions from the GCC, Middle East, and South Asia markets. Dubai's strategic position as a preferred destination for travelers is further evidenced by its top markets, including Western Europe, South Asia, and CIS, Eastern Europe.
Dubai's hospitality sector continues to thrive, with hotel occupancy rates reaching 83 percent and a notable increase in average daily rates, revenue per available room, and total available rooms. The city boasts over 96,000 hotel rooms in four and five-star establishments, further enhancing its capacity to accommodate growing tourist numbers.
Under the guidance of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai remains committed to its tourism strategy, aiming to strengthen its position as a leading global city for business and leisure. The city's success as a tourist destination is attributed to effective promotion efforts, world-class infrastructure, and diverse attractions.
Dubai's tourism growth is also fueled by key events such as Arab Health, Gulf Food, and the Dubai International Boat Show. The hospitality sector continues to expand with the opening of new developments like The Lana, Dorchester Collection, and Marriott Marquis, further enhancing Dubai's appeal to international visitors.
