Dubai Customs has successfully busted a large-scale marijuana smuggling operation involving 54 kilograms of the illegal substance. This sophisticated smuggling scheme, carried out by travellers from the same Asian country over multiple trips, was meticulously unravelled by skilled customs inspectors.
Clever Techniques Used to Hide the Drugs
To sneak the drugs into Dubai, the smugglers used a clever technique: packing marijuana in compressed, vacuum-sealed plastic bags. These bags were specifically designed to mask the strong odour and consolidate the drug into compact spaces, making it easier to transport large quantities. The vacuum-sealed bags were then hidden inside well-known brands of food products to avoid detection.
13 Smuggling Attempts Thwarted
Dubai Customs inspectors successfully uncovered a total of 13 smuggling attempts using this method. Thanks to their sharp attention to detail and advanced inspection techniques, they managed to foil the operation and seize the large haul of marijuana.
