Freediving can be a thrilling sport, but for Zarir Saifuddin, a resident in the UAE, it recently turned into a real-life cliffhanger.
Zarir’s Diving Drama
Zarir most of the time does spearfishing while freediving. He often goes after not one but two fish with one spear. But during the incident that almost killed him, one slippery fish dives into a cave. Zarir dives in after it, trying to fetch his spear, but it is deeply stuck in the rocks.

Close Call
As he struggled with the stubborn spear, he tried reaching the surface of the water to gasp some air, but everything suddenly went black. Just when he thought it was his end, he woke up safe and sound, thanks to his awesome friends who rushed him to Moon Island.
The Heroic Dubai Royal to the Rescue
Here's where it gets really cool: A member of Dubai's royal family spotted the scene and sent their personal doctor in full superhero mode. Soon after, Dubai Police, and emergency medical team swooped in by chopper and sent Zarir off to the hospital for a quick medical attention.
