Dubai resident Viktor Axelsen won a gold medal for Denmark at the Paris Olympics 2024 by beating Thailand's world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn.

Axelsen became the second athlete after Lin Dan to win back-to-back Olympic titles. The Danish badminton player beat his Thai opponent with a score of 21-11 in the men's singles competition at La Chapelle Arena's Court 1 on Monday, Aug. 5.
Axelson advanced to the finals after defeating India's Lakshya Sen. The Danish badminton player is UAE's golden visa holder and has spent the last four years in Dubai, training at Nad Al Sheba for over ten months.
