In Dubai, a woman was apprehended by authorities for engaging in begging and practicing witchcraft, believing it would aid her in persuading people to provide her with money.

Dubai Police disclosed that she was apprehended in a residential neighborhood, where they discovered witchcraft paraphernalia, including talismans, papers, and tools, in her possession. Her arrest came after a resident alerted the Command and Control Centre of the General Department of Operations.

Authorities have heightened surveillance efforts to combat begging, particularly during the sacred month of Ramadan. Brigadier Ali Salem Al Shamsi, Director of the Suspects and Criminal Phenomena Department stressed the importance of not succumbing to beggars' deceitful tactics and fictitious narratives. He urged the public to promptly report instances of begging through the toll-free number 901 or the 'Police Eye' service on the Dubai Police app. Online begging schemes can be reported through the e-Crime platform at www.ecrime.ae.

The incident underscores Dubai's commitment to maintaining public order and safeguarding against unlawful activities, including those exploiting religious sentiments or engaging in deceptive practices for personal gain. It also highlights the vigilance of residents in cooperating with law enforcement to uphold community well-being and security.
