A new “Smart Fine Payment” service has been introduced by Dubai Public Prosecution that simplifies the process for convicted individuals to settle fines and have travel bans lifted post-court judgment automatically. This digital solution is aimed at those found guilty of fines in criminal cases.
This service is in line with the framework of the ‘Services 360’ policy, which aims to promote government services, the smart fine payment initiative aligns with Dubai’s efforts to technological leadership.
Shamsa Salem Al Marri, who serves as the Director of Strategic Planning and Institutional Excellence, mentioned that the government's commitment to adopting advanced technology and artificial intelligence has led to the integration of policy at its core.
Beneficiaries of the service have three ways to settle fines. Firstly, they can use a text message link from the Public Prosecution, where they log in with their digital ID to pay online.
Secondly, fines are payable through payment devices accepting electronic or cash transactions, with various cash denominations accepted.
Lastly, individuals can pay on the Public Prosecution's website with their digital ID. Upon payment, a text message confirming the transaction and immediate revocation of arrest orders and travel bans is dispatched by Dubai Public Prosecution.
Once the court judgment is approved, travel bans will be lifted, and law enforcement will be notified of the search termination and travel restriction removal.
