Dubai's Sports Council has appointed former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh and former Indian tennis star Sania Mirza as sports ambassadors.
The announcement was made in the presence of Dubai's Crown Prince His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed. Singh and Mirza were appointed alongside UFC star Khabib Nurmagomedov and football icon Patrice Evra.
Harbhajan Singh
Harbhajan Singh is a former Indian cricketer renowned for his exceptional skills as an off-spin bowler. Nicknamed the "Turbanator," he was a pivotal figure in Indian cricket, especially during the 2000s.
Harbhajan played a significant role in India's triumphs, including the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup and the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. Known for his sharp turn and competitive spirit, he amassed over 700 international wickets across formats.
Sania Mirza
Sania Mirza is a former Indian professional tennis player and one of the most celebrated athletes in the country.
Known for her powerful forehand and exceptional doubles play, she achieved numerous milestones, including six Grand Slam titles in doubles and mixed doubles.
Sania was the first Indian woman to reach the top 30 in WTA singles rankings and later became the world No. 1 in doubles.
Both personalities have made their country proud by taking on this new role.
