In preparation for Eid Al Fitr festivities, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Dubai's Vice President and Ruler, has directed federal government employees to receive their salaries early in April.

The decision ensures that public sector workers receive their pay cheques on Monday, April 17, to help them provide for their families during the occasion marking the end of the holy month.

Dubai's Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, has instructed for the salaries of government employees in the emirate to be paid on April 17 to coincide with the upcoming Eid Al Fitr celebrations.

Based on astronomical calculations, the holiday in the UAE is expected to take place from April 20 to April 23, spanning from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3.

The start of Eid Al Fitr will be determined by the Moon-sighting committee closer to the time. The Islamic calendar, which comprises 12 lunar months of either 354 or 355 days, determines Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr, causing it to occur up to 10 days earlier each year in the Gregorian calendar. Eid Al Fitr is one of the two holy festivals celebrated by Muslims across the globe.
