Dubai is about to host its first-ever phone-free meetup, designed to encourage visitors to disconnect from the digital world. On Sunday, September 22, Seva Café in Jumeirah will transform into a no-device zone, offering guests a refreshing break from screens and an opportunity to reconnect in real life.

The concept, created by the Netherlands-based Offline Club, partners with Seva Café to introduce its growing movement to Dubai. Upon arrival, attendees will be required to hand over their phones, only to be returned at the end of the session. Without digital distractions, visitors can read, paint, write, or simply enjoy face-to-face conversations with others.

The meetup will begin with solo activities, followed by an interactive social session and a sound healing experience in the café’s serene garden. Andrea Stefanelli, co-founder of The Offline Club, shared, “It’s a special evening where people can enjoy being fully present—no phones, just great company and a peaceful setting.”

The Offline Club launched its first phone-free event in February 2024 in Amsterdam and has since seen immense success, with a viral Instagram reel highlighting the positive impact of digital detox. Stefanelli, a Dubai resident, explained that in the city’s fast-paced, hyper-connected environment, this event offers a much-needed opportunity for residents to unplug and recharge.

With the rise of screen time and its negative effects, the Offline Club hopes to spread its mission globally, offering more people a chance to rediscover the benefits of offline living.
