Dubai has officially launched the construction of its first aerial taxi vertiport, strategically located near Dubai International Airport (DXB), with plans to be fully operational by 2026.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, marking a significant milestone in the city’s innovative transport landscape.

The Crown Prince of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who also serves as the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, inaugurated the construction site. The vertiport, designed to accommodate the city’s futuristic aerial taxi service, will span 3,100 square metres and is projected to manage 42,000 landings and host up to 170,000 passengers annually.

Initially, the city will see the development of vertiports at four key locations: near DXB, Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina, and Palm Jumeirah. Each vertiport will feature dedicated landing and take-off areas, complete with comprehensive security screening zones to ensure passenger safety.
