Dubai International Airport (DXB) is gearing up for a record-breaking 2024, fueled by stellar growth in passenger numbers during the first nine months of the year.
By September's end, DXB welcomed an impressive 68.6 million passengers, paving the way for a high-traffic final quarter. The airport expects an additional 23.2 million guests by year-end, setting its annual forecast at a record 91.9 million passengers—the highest in its history.
Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, attributed the growth to Dubai’s global appeal and DXB's focus on service excellence, citing advances in biometric systems and real-time tracking technologies as key contributors to seamless operations.
The third quarter alone saw 23.7 million passengers, a 6.3% increase from the previous year, while flight movements for the first nine months totaled 327,700.
India remained DXB’s top destination market, followed by Saudi Arabia, the UK, Pakistan, and the USA. Popular city routes included London, Riyadh, Mumbai, and Jeddah, underscoring Dubai's position as a global travel hub.
The upcoming winter season, paired with major international events, is set to drive the final quarter's momentum, reaffirming DXB's status as the world’s busiest international airport for the tenth straight year.
As Dubai’s profile as a premier global destination continues to rise, DXB is setting the bar higher, ensuring exceptional travel experiences for millions in 2025 and beyond.
