Dubai has officially entered the future of transportation with the launch of its first licensed drone delivery service. On Tuesday, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) granted Keeta Drone the first license to operate a drone delivery system, starting with six drones at Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO).

The program aims to revolutionize delivery services, offering faster solutions for transporting food, medicine, and other essential items. This milestone marks a significant step in Dubai’s commitment to adopting cutting-edge technologies and reducing traffic congestion.
Four Drone Routes Operational at Dubai Silicon Oasis
Keeta Drone unveiled four operational delivery routes within DSO, connecting key locations such as the Rochester Institute of Technology-Dubai (RIT-Dubai), Dubai Digital Park, and Fakeeh University Hospital. These routes are designed to ensure quick and efficient delivery of high-priority items, including medical supplies and emergency essentials.
Collaborations with major players like Americana and RIT-Dubai are also underway to expand the scope of drone services in the emirate.
Sheikh Hamdan Places the First Order
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, placed the first official order using the drone delivery system. The delivery, originating from one of DSO’s take-off points, was successfully completed at RIT-Dubai, showcasing the system’s efficiency and reliability.
Dubai’s Vision for Smart Mobility
According to Mohammed Abdulla Lengawi, Director-General of the DCAA, drone deliveries are set to cover 33% of Dubai by 2030. This aligns with the city’s broader vision of becoming a global leader in smart mobility.
