Donald Trump has been elected as the 47th president of the United States, earning more than 270 electoral votes, according to Decision Desk HQ. Trump, who served previously as the 45th president from 2016 to 2020, becomes the first convicted felon to hold the office and only the second president in U.S. history to serve two non-consecutive terms, following Grover Cleveland.
Trump Beats Harris in Popular and Electoral Vote
Trump, who won the popular vote by around 4.7 million votes, defeated Democratic candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris. Harris had secured 213 electoral college votes.

Victory Speech in Florida
In an early morning rally in Florida, Trump declared his victory at approximately 1:30AM EST, thanking his supporters. This marks a notable comeback for Trump, despite recent legal challenges.
In May, he was found guilty of 34 felony charges related to business records, making him the first U.S. president with a felony conviction.
Sen. JD Vance Joins Trump as Vice President
Ohio Senator JD Vance, who rose to national prominence as the author of Hillbilly Elegy, will serve as vice president. Vance, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, was elected as senator in 2023. The Trump-Vance administration will be officially inaugurated on January 20, 2025.
