As we can see the UAE is going green with many environmentally friendly initiatives. We can also see the uprise of electric cars as they are better for the environment.

The thing with electric cars is that you charge them instead of filling them up with gas, and many might find that hard, what if you own an electric car and it runs out of charge while on a road trip to Hatta?

Luckily, if you are and environmentally friendly person and own an electric car then the EV Green Charger Initiative, launched by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has just built a massive network of electric vehicle chargers in Dubai.

There are now more than 300 charging stations across the city, including three stations in Hatta, so you are all set for your next road trip. You can easily find the DEWA charging stations through the smart app as well as digital mapping platforms like Google Maps, Apple Maps, and Foursquare, ride-sharing apps like Careem, car navigation maps such as TomTom and Here Maps, and charging station platforms like Plugshare or Yellowmaps.

DEWA uses trusted and cutting edge blockchain technology for registration, charging, billing and settlement. Plus, if you're registered on the EV Green Charger Initiative, you're able to charge your electric vehicles using a smart app and scanning a QR code at the charging station. You can also charge up using the EV Green Charger card.

According to DEWA, there are now more than 8000 hybrid and electric vehicles in Dubai, an important step towards achieving the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai: to consolidate Dubai’s position as a global capital for the green economy and sustainable development.
