After Qurans were burnt down in recent weeks by far-left extremists in front of foreign embassies from Muslim-majority countries in Copenhagen, Denmark might consider outlawing actions where "religions are being insulted," the foreign ministry announced on Sunday.

The Danish foreign ministry mentioned in a statement that the burnings were "deeply offensive" and "play into the hands of extremists" and that the government will "explore the possibility of intervening in special situations where, for example, other countries, cultures, and religions are being insulted."

The Danish Foreign Ministry said, “The Danish government will therefore explore the possibility of intervening in special situations where, for instance, other countries, cultures, and religions are being insulted, and where this could have significant negative consequences for Denmark, not least with regard to security.”

Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Morocco, Qatar, and Yemen have all objected in response to the public burnings in the Scandinavian nations, which have provoked considerable indignation throughout Muslim nations.

The Gulf countries have denounced the occurrences as a provocation of the beliefs of millions of Muslims worldwide.
