COP28 Will Place UAE at The Centre of The World: French Ambassador

The UAE's hosting of COP28 will put the country "at the very centre of the world stage," French ambassador to the UAE, Nicolas Niemtchinow, told The National on the occasion of Bastille Day, which fell on Friday, July 14th.
The UAE had the ability to function as a mediator "between the north and south" of the world during the vital talks, according to Niemtchinow.
He also expressed optimism that the November 30th to December 12th summit to address the climate emergency would be successful.
Niemtchinow went on to say that France fully supports the UAE's efforts at this "extremely important" time for the planet's future, particularly in terms of sustaining the 1.5°C objective and growing climate funding.
