The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in the state of Qatar has announced the completion of the construction works for the construction of tourist boat moorings on the Corniche in three locations, the first near the Al Bidda pedestrian tunnel, the second near the Al Dafna pedestrian tunnel, and the third near Sheraton Park, in preparation for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, in cooperation with Qatar Tourism and the Ministries of Environment, Climate Change, Transportation, the Municipality and the Private Engineering Office.

On this occasion, Engineer Sarah Kafud, Vice-Chairman of the Supervising Committee for Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar, affirmed the committee's keenness to contribute to supporting the successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, in cooperation with various state institutions, As well as highlighting Qatar's distinctive identity in front of visitors to the country to provide an opportunity for everyone to explore a new culture, especially as it is the first edition of the tournament in the Middle East and the Arab and Islamic worlds.

She added that the project to build tourist boat moorings is in line with the development process witnessed by the Corniche project, and the great progress in infrastructure projects in the country in preparation for hosting a special edition of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, especially that the Corniche is one of the most important and vital tourist attractions in the country.

For her part, Maryam Saud, Head of the Tourism Product Support Department at Qatar Tourism, said: “Qatar Tourism is working to make Qatar a world-class destination, receiving more than six million visitors annually by 2030, and as one of the fastest growing tourism destinations in the world, it is essential to continue to develop and enhance the tourism experience.

She added that the implementation of the project before hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is extremely important in order to provide the highest level of service to visitors.

In turn, Engineer Maryam Al-Kuwari, Project Design Manager at the Supervising Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in the country, explained that the tourist boats are one of the cultural and heritage facades of the country, and visitors were able to explore Doha and its waterfront, Therefore, the moorings were implemented in a simplified way based on the unification and consistency of the materials used in them with the yards of the Corniche tunnels, where sustainable materials were used that withstand climatic conditions, whether in water or on land, taking into account the highest standards of quality and safety, as the second and third sites include a sewage network And a low-voltage electricity network, and the third site includes a drinking water network.

She added that the moorings provide appropriate and safe passages for use by all age groups, which contribute to facilitating their boarding of boats, taking into account people with disabilities, whom the Committee attaches great importance to in all its projects by providing facilities that help them integrate into society.
