Dubai's iconic Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, radiantly shines in blue, marking the celebration of the 'Blue Line' extension to the Dubai Metro.

The skyscraper unveiled the ambitious project with a dazzling display of 'Dubai Metro Blue Line' in both English and Arabic.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE's Vice-President and Prime Minister and Dubai's Ruler, granted approval for the new Dubai Metro line project on Friday.
Spanning 30km with 14 stations, the Blue Line will be the first train crossing Dubai Creek, with an investment of AED 18 billion ($4.9 billion).
The extension aims to connect vital neighborhoods like Marsa, Dubai Creek, Festival City, International City, Al Rashidiya, Al Warqa, Mirdif, Silicon Oasis, and Academic City.
Anticipated to commence operations in 2029, the Blue Line is projected to accommodate up to 320,000 daily passengers.
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) outlines the timeline:
- 2023: Tender release
- 2024: Project awarding
- 2025: Tunnel boring initiation
- 2028: Trial operation
- 2029: Official operation
