The iconic Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai displayed the Indian flag for India's Independence Day on Thursday, Aug. 15.

Videos of the moment have been circulating on social media. In the video, visitors are heard chanting 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' (Victory for Mother India) and 'Vande Maataram' (I bow to thee mother). 

Celebrations took place for the 78th Independence Day took place across the Emirates with people cutting Independence Day-themed cakes, yachts hoisting the tricolor, and the Chak De India Live celebrating at the World Trade Center. 

The Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum wished Indian expats in Dubai on this joyous occasion. He wrote on X, "Today, India proudly marks its 78th Independence Day, a testament to the nation's incredible developmental journey. As we celebrate this significant milestone, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to my friend @narendramodi, Prime Minister of India, and the Indian people."
