The National Testing Agency (NTA) of India has announced that it is expanding its medical exam testing centers, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET-UG) 2024. The NTA's tweet on Tuesday disclosed the inclusion of 14 international centers, encompassing cities like Lagos, Singapore, and Bangkok.
The NTA, an autonomous organization under India’s Ministry of Education, conducts competitive exams such as NEET-UG. This move caters to the needs of NRI students, showcasing flexibility and responsiveness to their unique circumstances.
Initially, the NTA had omitted international centers in its announcement on February 20th, following an earlier notice on February 9th, 2024. NEET-UG is crucial for students aspiring to pursue medicine in India and select international countries. The introduction of international centers in 2021 accommodated students unable to travel due to the COVID-19 pandemic, fulfilling a long-standing demand from parents for overseas testing locations.
Despite the absence of foreign centers in the initial document this year, the NTA has now rectified the decision almost two weeks later, expanding testing options globally. Students who initially chose Indian centers can correct their choices during a specified window after the registration period ends.
