B.Laban Shuts Down All Branches Across Egypt 😫

Beloved Egyptian dessert chain B.Laban has officially closed all of its branches in Egypt, marking a major blow to the local food and beverage scene.
In a statement released Friday, April 18, the company announced that it has completely ceased operations across the country. “All operations of Blaban Company have completely ceased within the Arab Republic of Egypt. All 110 of our branches have been shut down, along with our factories and affiliated facilities, which together employed 25,000 Egyptians,” B.Laban stated in an open letter addressed to President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, the Cabinet, and other relevant government authorities.

The company added that it had received no clear explanation for the measures taken against it, nor any guidance on a resolution. “This lack of clarity has left both the company and its employees in a state of total paralysis,” the letter read.
The shutdown is expected to have serious repercussions beyond Egypt, affecting B.Laban’s international operations and threatening its broader presence in the Middle East.
Founded in Alexandria in 2021, B.Laban quickly rose to popularity for its modern take on traditional Egyptian desserts such as rice pudding, Umm Ali, and ice cream. The brand currently has a footprint in several countries including the UAE, Morocco, Libya, Jordan, Oman, and Qatar.
The news follows a recent move by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, which temporarily shut down B.Laban branches in the Kingdom.
