Egyptian-American comedian Bassem Youssef reactivated his X account this week after it was suspended last week without reason.
The comedian finally explained why he deactivated his account in a statement, "Two reasons: I received concerning messages that gave me and my team the impression that my account has been hacked with the potential of being doxxed...Also, there were potential safety issues concerning people I know."

In his statement on social media, Youssef also said, "This was consuming all my time, plus I was dealing with personal and health issues...My family members were under a lot of pressure so I had to deal with that. This caused a major burnout to all of us."

After these security concerns were alleviated, Youssef did not reactivate his account, explaining that he was taking some time off from it because of the situation's effect on him and his family.
Youssef deactivated his account on Aug. 19, which led netizens to believe that it had been suspended because of the comedian's commentary on Gaza.
