Some private companies in the UAE have allowed flexible working hours for their private employees because of the upcoming back-to-school season.

Government employees have been granted flexible work hours by the authorities for the back-to-school season, however the same was not granted to the private sector employees.

Nonetheless, some private firms have granted their employees alternative schedules for the back-to-school season.

Many parents have notified their employers that they will be coming to work later than usual because they have to drop off their children at school.

On the other hand, The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has granted public sector employees flexible schedules for the first day of school.

The scheme is not only for the back-to-school season but for other important events during the academic year such as parent-teacher meetings and graduation ceremonies.

The period of flexibility will not exceed a three-hour break, which can be taken at one time or divided between the morning and evening. Individuals who have children in nursery or kindergarten can avail the flexible hours for the entire first week of school.
