A recent study conducted at the University of Bath in the United Kingdom found that avoiding social media for just one week led to a significant improvement in the person's well-being and reduced levels of anxiety and depression.
By conducting a set of surveys, the research team found that some social media users can spend up to nine hours on their favorite platforms during one week.
In an attempt to find a definitive answer about the impact of continuous use of these platforms, 154 people between the ages of 18 and 72 who use social media daily for up to 8 hours a week were gathered and divided randomly into two groups, one using social media as usual, while the other group was asked to avoid any social media use for a week.
Although the second group found it very difficult to do so, the results showed that this group experienced a significant improvement in their well-being and a significant decrease in anxiety and depression levels.
If you are addicted to scrolling down social media platforms, we advise you to gradually reduce the time you continue to do so until it reaches a reasonable and logical period in order not to harm your mental health or suffer from anxiety and depression.
