To learn more about the art of animation, mark your calendars for the 2025 Sharjah Animation Conference. The conference will run from May 1 to May 4 at the Sharjah Expo Centre. 

Here are some exciting sessions you should attend at the conference:

Master Character Design with Disney Legend Tom Bancroft

The legendary Disney animator, Tom Boncroft, will lead this workshop to create unique and compelling character designs and personalities for your animated movies. 

Boncroft is the mastermind behind your favorite Disney movies including 'Mulan', 'The Lion King', and 'Beauty and the Beast'.

The workshop is scheduled for May 1, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m, at Mecha Lab.

How to Break Cultural Barriers Through Animation

This panel discussion at the Otaku Stage will focus on mastering animation for holistic cross-cultural communication and analyzing successful global animation case studies. 

The panel will feature the co-founder of Zero Gravity Studios, Brian Wilson; Founder and Animation Director at Zanad, Tariq Ali; and co-founder of Studio Bozetto & Co. Andrea Bozetto.

The 12 Principles of Animation: Master Smooth & Expressive Motion

To create smooth progression in your animated movies and clips, attend this workshop by 3D animator Sara Matta at the Creative Dojo on May 1, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

How Studio Ghibli Crafts Iconic Soundtracks

The maestro behind the heartwarming Ghibli movies' music, Tamiya Terashima, will talk about the process behind creating the most magical soundtracks for Studio Ghibli. 

He will be joined by the composer for the Florence Pops Orchestra, Carlo Chiarotti, and together they will discuss how musical compositions shape animated storytelling.

The session is scheduled for May 2, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Creative Dojo.

Developing Your Unique Illustration Style

This workshop will help aspiring animators develop their personal illustration style and learn about the key elements of stylization. 

Co-founder of the Samaka Studio, Ahmad Thabit, will lead the workshop at Mecha Lab on May 2, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

60 Years of Japanese Anime

This talk is for the anime lovers because it will focus on the pioneering role of YTV in Japanese anime and important takeaways from 60 years of anime broadcasting. 

Hiroki Tanaka from Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation and their Global Content Manager, Ayako Noguchi, will lead the discussion on May 3, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Main Hall. 

From Script to Screen: Creating Compelling Visual Storytelling

The workshop will focus on enhancing visual storytelling and will be led by the Founder of Comfy Studio, Comfort Arthur, and the Founder of Mounia Aram Company, Mounia Aram.

The workshop is scheduled for May 3, from 12:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Mecha Lab.

To develop the perfect pitch for your animation project, attend this talk by Nicolas Monteiro at Blue Spirit/Brain Comet.
