An Egyptian Movie to be Screened at the Cannes Film Festival

The Egyptian documentary 'The Brink of Dreams' will be screened at the Critics' Week of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival

Egyptian filmmakers Nada Riyadh and Ayman El Amir have directed this film and it will feature at the film festival on Friday, May 17th and Saturday, May 18th. 

'The Brink of Dreams' is the first Egyptian documentary that has secured a spot in the Cannes Critics' Week. It is also the only documentary film competing in the Critics' Week competition. 

'The Brink of Dreams' is one of only seven films that is competing for the Grand Award for Best Film, the Jury Award, the Best Actor or Actress Award, the Best Screenplay Award, and the Distribution Award.

The documentary is about a group of girls in a southern Egyptian village who rebel by forming an all-female street theater troupe. The documentary is shot over four years, featuring the women's journey from childhood to womanhood. 

The 2024 Cannes Film Festival will run from Tuesday, May 14 to Saturday, May 25.
