All About the 3rd Edition of Dubai Metro Music Festival 2023
The third edition of the Dubai Metro Music Festival is scheduled to take place from March 6–12, according to an announcement by Brand Dubai, the creative department of the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO) in partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
Director of Brand Dubai, Shaima Al Suwaidi, said: “The Dubai Metro Music Festival reflects the dynamism and vibrancy of Dubai’s cultural environment and its emergence as a focal point for creative excellence. By bringing together talented musicians from all over the world, the Festival enhances Dubai’s cultural ambiance and further strengthens its growing profile as a global cultural hub that brings together some of the world’s most exceptional creative talent."
In accordance with the UAE's declaration of 2023 as the "Year of Sustainability," this year's event is centered around the theme of sustainability. Artists will participate in the event and perform on recycled-material instruments to display their skills.
The Performances during the Metro Music Festival
In the most recent #DubaiDestinations campaign, one of the major events emphasized is The Festival. The campaign encourages both residents and visitors to take advantage of the #DubaiArtSeason to enjoy the rich artistic and cultural offerings of the emirate.
20 local, international, and regional musicians representing unique sparks of creative ability in a broad range of instruments, genres, and styles will play for metro users in breathtaking musical performances starting Monday, 6th March 2023.
Artists from Egypt, India, France, Thailand, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Nigeria, Cuba, the United Kingdom, Lebanon, Canada, the Netherlands, Jordan, and Australia are featured in this year's Festival.
Eman Al Raeesi, an Emirati guitarist who plays electric guitar, and Shadi L.Harbi, a self-taught Saudi musician who plays the oud, will both make special appearances during the event.
New musical genres including folk beatboxing and new instruments like the flute beatbox will be introduced to visitors during the Dubai Metro Music Festival. Additionally, it will feature some unusual performances, such as a puppet show that combines music with recreations of Umm Kulthum's performances, a musical performance using recycled materials, music performed by a woman with a "mirror head," and a two-guitar show, and a DJ performance by the youngest person in the Middle East.
Timing of the performances
Every day from 4 pm to 10 pm, the public can enjoy live performances. Throughout the course of the event, all of the performances will alternate to cover each of the five metro stations.
