Al Khail Road to Get 5 New Flyovers to Help Ease Traffic
Dubai has announced an AED 700 million project to reduce travel time on Al Khail Road by 30 percent. The Al Khail Road improvement initiative includes the construction of five new flyovers strategically positioned to alleviate traffic congestion along the highway.
Key Locations Targeted for Road Enhancements
The road improvement works will be conducted at various locations, such as Zabeel, Meydan, Al Quoz 1, Ghadeer Al Tair, Jumeirah Village Circle, Al Jaddaf, and Business Bay. The project, whose contract has been awarded, will enhance the overall road infrastructure and improve traffic flow in these areas.
Enhancing Capacity and Connectivity
According to Mattar Al Tayer, the Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the improvement project aims to enhance the capacity of roads parallel to and supporting Sheikh Zayed, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, and Emirates roads. This strategic initiative aligns with Dubai's commitment to advancing its transportation infrastructure.

Detailed Overview of Project Locations
Zabeel: A three-lane bridge will link traffic from Zabeel Palace Street and Oud Metha Road directly onto Al Khail Road in the direction of Abu Dhabi. Improvements will also target traffic inbound from Al Khail Road heading to Financial Centre Street in the direction of Sheikh Zayed Road.
Meydan: Construction of a two-lane bridge connecting Al Meydan Road to Al Khail Road in the direction of Deira. Roads will be improved to facilitate traffic between Al Khail Road and Ras Al Khor Road.
Al Quoz 1: The project involves a two-lane bridge linking traffic from Al Meydan Road onto Al Khail Road in the direction of Abu Dhabi. Enhancements will extend to linking traffic from Al Khail Road to Al Waha Street and Latifa bint Hamdan Street.
Ghadeer Al Tair: A two-lane bridge will connect Latifa Bint Hamdan Street to Al Khail Road in the direction of Deira. This will improve traffic connectivity between Al Khail Road and Al Meydan Road.
Jumeirah Village Circle: Construction includes a two-lane bridge linking traffic from Al Khail Road to Hessa Street, enhancing traffic connectivity from Jumeirah Village Circle to Al Khail Road in the direction of Deira.
Al Jaddaf: A new lane is planned to improve traffic flow towards Deira, increasing the road's capacity by approximately 2,000 vehicles per hour.
Business Bay: The road's entrance will be widened by adding an extra lane, ensuring a smoother flow from Al Khail Road to the Business Bay area.
