The Environment Agency Abu Dhabi took to its official Instagram account to warn Abu Dhabi residents of sea snakes on popular beaches in the Emirate.
The agency told residents to keep their distance if they come across a serpent. If bitten, EAD said urgent medical assistance must be sought immediately,
Sea snakes are often seen in low tide areas, when the temperature drops below 22°C. Although venomous, they only bite when provoked or scared.
The snakes struggle to move on land so can often look sluggish or look dead but the public are advised not to try and move them.
