In a landmark move for the UAE's education sector, the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), and a multinational consortium led by Plenary Group and BESIX Group have inaugurated three state-of-the-art schools in Zayed City, Abu Dhabi. These new educational facilities represent the first time that school infrastructure has been developed in the UAE under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

Expanding Abu Dhabi's Educational Capacity

The project has significantly enhanced Abu Dhabi’s educational landscape, adding capacity for 5,360 students from kindergarten to Grade 12. These new facilities will cater to students for the 2024-2025 academic year and beyond, ensuring a robust educational environment as the region continues to grow. This is a significant step in addressing the increasing demand for high-quality education in the UAE's capital.

A New Era in School Infrastructure

Today’s opening ceremony was held at one of the Zayed City School campuses, with officials celebrating the milestone. As the first schools delivered through ADIO's PPP procurement framework, the Zayed City Schools project is poised to elevate the standard of educational facilities in Abu Dhabi. It also sets the stage for increased private sector involvement in delivering and financing public infrastructure across the city, a crucial development as Abu Dhabi continues to innovate in education and beyond.

Sustainability and Innovation at the Core

Located within Abu Dhabi's Zayed City, the three new schools span a combined area of 81,000 square meters. These campuses are not only vast but also built to meet Estidama sustainability standards, reflecting Abu Dhabi's commitment to eco-friendly development. Equipped with cutting-edge technologies and innovative learning spaces, the schools are designed to inspire creativity and foster a modern learning environment. This new benchmark for educational facilities highlights the UAE's focus on integrating sustainability and innovation in its infrastructure projects.

A Model for Future Projects

The Zayed City Schools project is more than just an educational venture; it’s a model for future public-private partnerships in Abu Dhabi. By involving the private sector in such a critical area as education, the UAE capital is showing how collaboration can drive significant advancements in infrastructure, ensuring long-term success for the region’s development.

The success of this project paves the way for further private sector participation in delivering high-quality public services, aligning with Abu Dhabi’s broader vision for growth and sustainability.
