Abu Dhabi has unveiled a groundbreaking achievement in sustainable transportation, presenting the world's largest 3D-printed water taxi at the Abu Dhabi International Boat Show. Measuring an impressive 389 feet in length and 12 feet in width, the hydrophilic cab, boasting a catamaran design and electric propulsion, has earned a Guinness World Record.

Weighing 6.4 tons, the watercraft is a joint effort between Al Futtaim Maritime and Abu Dhabi Maritime, both part of the AD Ports Group, with a strong commitment to eco-friendly transport. The taxi is constructed using 67% recycled materials and signals a significant leap towards environmentally responsible maritime practices.
In a collaboration that emphasizes technological innovation and environmental consciousness, the watercraft is set to pioneer a new era in nautical transportation. The partnership between Al Futtaim Maritime and Abu Dhabi Maritime showcases a dedication to reliability and sustainability, marking a significant step forward.

In 2019, the Island Institute's Advanced Structures and Composites Laboratory achieved a Guinness World Record by 3D-printing a 25-foot, 5,000-pound boat named the 3Dirigo. Notably, the Island Institute contributed to composite fabrication by creating three-dimensional logistics containers for the U.S. Department of Defense. These containers, replicating the displacement of 20-foot equipment containers, showcase the versatility of 3D printing in optimizing transportation capabilities.
