The move came in partnership with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company for Distribution (ADNOC Distribution).
Muhammad Al Buraik Al Amiri, Director of the Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Directorate in the Central Operations Sector, said: "The opening of the two lanes comes as an unprecedented step aimed at achieving the desired and common goals between the two sides and reaching record levels of customer satisfaction within the government directions in implementing the national strategy for quality of life."
One of the specially-prepared lanes is situated at the ADNOC Vehicle Inspection Centre in the Muroor area, while the other lane is located in Al Ain at the Vehicle Inspection Centre in Al Bateen.
This step aims to provide EV owners with priority in having their vehicles examined through these lanes.
UAE authorities aim to encourage more residents to switch to greener transportation options through speeding the licensing process for EVs.
