To combat drug trafficking and improve global collaboration in the battle against drug abuse, the Cabinet on Wednesday approved the initiation of an anti-narcotics council.

The decision was approved at a recent Cabinet meeting at Qasr Al Watan, which was presided over by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai.

In addition to providing proper medical, psychiatric, and rehabilitation services to help drug users reintegrate into society, it will also offer ways for early drug addiction detection.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed tweeted, "Drugs are the scourge of this era, the cancer of societies, and an epidemic targeting our dearest possessions, targeting youth. Fighting it is a patriotic duty for every guardian and every government and security official.

"The solidarity of governmental and educational agencies, security institutions, and families on one hand is the impenetrable bulwark against those who want evil with us and our children,” he further added.
