6 Reasons Why Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' Is so Hyped
Christopher Nolan's World War II science epic, "Oppenheimer," has garnered significant praise and has been hailed as the best and most important film of this century. And in case you are wondering why it is trending worldwide, we are showing you in this article six reasons why "Oppenheimer" is so hyped.
Here are six reasons why "Oppenheimer" is generating tremendous buzz:
It is co-written and directed by Christopher Nolan
This one had to be on top of the reasons. A major reason to see "Oppenheimer" is because of the director and co-writer: Christopher Nolan. He has written and/or directed masterpiece movies such as "The Dark Knight," "Inception," and "Interstellar." This man is a superstar.
The movie is based on a true story
"Oppenheimer" is about J. Robert Oppenheimer, a theoretical physicist, and the creation of the atomic bomb. He provided to the world its first atomic bomb and perhaps the means for humanity to obliterate itself. Even when the plot seems outrageous, we all love a movie based on a true story.
'Oppenheimer' is Nolan's first biopic
This is the first time that Nolan has made a biopic, as the movie is based on the book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J Robert Oppenheimer.
The film was fully shot in IMAX and Panavision
"Oppenheimer" was shot using a combination of IMAX 65 mm and 65 mm large-format film, making it the first film to shoot certain sections of the movie in IMAX black and white photographic film.
"The headline, for me, is by shooting on (IMAX film), you're really letting the screen disappear. You’re getting a feeling of 3D without the glasses. You've got a huge screen and you're filling the peripheral vision of the audience. You’re immersing them in the world of the film," Nolan said, per The Associated Press.
CGI was not used for the atomic bomb climax scene
The 52-year-old filmmaker claimed that "Oppenheimer" has no CGI (Computer-generated imagery) used in the film. And that's a very bold claim in modern cinema.
Every star imaginable is in "Oppenheimer"
It seems that every star in the world is in the cast list for this movie. The cast includes Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek, Florence Pugh, Josh Hartnett and Tony Goldwyn.
