His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and ruler of Sharjah, issued an order mandating the release of 390 prisoners from Sharjah before Eid Al Adha.

The decision of releasing those who were convicted shows their intention to provide happiness to their families, give them a chance to start over, and help in their reintegration into society.

The majority of prisoners who are released often have only committed minor offenses or financial crimes or maintained their behavior well throughout their sentences.

Ahead of Eid Al Adha, UAE leaders have released more than 2,600 prisoners. The "festival of the sacrifice" known as Eid Al Adha is on June 28th. It takes place in the 12th and last month of the Islamic calendar, Dhu Al Hijja, which started on Monday.
