Three Emirati Female Pioneers Message On Emirati Women's Day
The UAE celebrates Emirati Women’s Day on August 28, Tuesday, under the theme ‘'Inspiring Reality.. Sustainable Future'’ this year 2022.
The country’s leadership celebrates the occasion to highlight the contributions of Emirati women and their role in the country’s development. Their presence in space sciences, technology, engineering and medicine is a key factor in the country's development.
We've spoken to 3 Emirati female pioneers; here's their message on this day.
Mahira Abdelaziz - Emirati Media Figure and Actor with a degree in Architecture
What is your message to Emirati women on this day?
My message to Emirati women is to continue to give their best and to believe in their full capabilities. She who can bring life to this world and raise generations is able to accomplish everything and cannot put the word impossible in her dictionary.
What is your message to men on Emirati Women's Day?
My message to the Emirati man is to make the leaders and rulers of the Emirates a role model for him in their continuous support for women and their firm belief in the importance of their essential role in the development of any society.
Dr. Eng Suaad Al Shamsi - UAE's first female Emirati Aviation Engineer
If you were a decision-maker, what legislation do you think Emirati women need today for more empowerment - in general, and in the field of air work in particular?
In my opinion, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak and all the leaders in the UAE made sure to put all the necessary legislations. They made empowering women their cause in the previous years and will continue in the years ahead.
Women today need more knowledge and awareness about legislation. In the field of air work, we need greater empowerment for women, as the percentage of women is still low compared to men due to the lack of appropriate support and awareness.
What would you say to young Emirati women who are considering an experience similar to yours?
Be different, be passionate, believe in yourself and your dream, and that you will have your lifetime experience.
Jouhayna Al Mheiri - One of the 10 Emirati females in the world to take the role of an Air Traffic Control Officer
What do you think are the biggest challenges ahead for the next Emirati generation of female leaders?
I believe that right now is when there has been an immense level of support shown to the daughters of Zayed. So, we are actually at an advantage with many doors that are open for us to grow.
What's the best advice you've ever received, or you would like to share it with young Emirati ladies.
"If you can dream it, do it" from Dr. Eng Suuad Al Shamsi. Seven words with a lot of impact.
