The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has reported a 2.8 magnitude earthquake striking the Khor Fakkan Coast at 3:03 am on Saturday, according to the National Seismic Network. While tremors were felt in the area, no impact on the UAE was recorded, the NCM stated in a press release today.

The seismic event, measured on the Richter scale, prompted the NCM to issue an alert to residents in the affected region. However, reassurance was provided that there were no immediate threats or consequences for the UAE as a result of the earthquake.

Residents in Khor Fakkan and surrounding areas reported feeling the tremors, sparking brief moments of concern. However, authorities swiftly confirmed that there was no cause for alarm and that the situation was under control.

As seismic activity continues to be monitored closely by the National Seismic Network, residents are advised to remain vigilant and follow any updates or advisories issued by the NCM. While earthquakes are relatively rare in the UAE, preparedness and awareness are key to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents in the event of such occurrences.
