If you love tech then this is your sign to gear up! The Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL) is soaring to new heights with the A2RL Drone Race, scheduled for April 2025. This thrilling event will showcase the world's top drone racing teams, elite research institutions, and ambitious newcomers.

What's the Prize and Who can Compete?

With a staggering $1 million prize on the line, competitors will push their drones to the limit, navigating a challenging obstacle course designed to test speed and agility. But it’s not just for the pros—high school students passionate about STEM are encouraged to participate and make their mark.

A Record-Breaking Success

Following the massive success of this year’s A2RL Car Race at Yas Marina Circuit, where eight teams impressed a crowd of 10,000 with driverless cars, the league is turning its focus to drones. The car race captivated 900,000 online viewers and 22,000 VR app users, setting the stage for even more groundbreaking technology in the drone competition.

Driving Innovation

Organized by Aspire, the A2RL Drone Race aims to drive innovation in drone technology, enhance accessibility in developing nations, and equip the next generation with cutting-edge skills. The race's technological advancements are expected to ripple out into various industries, offering practical applications beyond the racetrack.

Selection Process

Before hitting the track, teams must navigate a rigorous three-step selection process:

  1. Screening: Participants will need to showcase their expertise in robotics and AI through research papers, project websites, or impressive drone flight videos.

  2. Video Submission: Selected teams will then submit videos demonstrating their drones in action, highlighting precision flying, advanced sensors, and computational prowess.
  3. On-Site Demo: The top candidates will be invited to Abu Dhabi for a live demonstration. Only the best 20 teams will advance to the grand finale in April 2025.
