Expanding Abu Dhabi’s Bike Lane Network
New cycling paths are already popping up across key residential areas on Abu Dhabi Island. Some of the streets currently undergoing upgrades include:
- Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street
- First Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Street
- Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street
- Saeed Bin Ahmed Al Otaiba Street
These aren’t just random additions—they’re part of a larger initiative to promote a more active lifestyle, improve urban mobility, and enhance the city’s sustainability efforts.
1,270 KM of Bike-Friendly Roads Coming Soon
DMT’s vision extends beyond just a few streets. By the time the project is completed, Abu Dhabi will have an impressive 1,270 km of cycling infrastructure, making it one of the most bike-friendly cities in the region. Whether you’re looking for a scenic ride, a workout, or a fun family outing, there will be plenty of space for every kind of cyclist.
Safety and Convenience Take Priority
To ensure these new pathways are both safe and enjoyable, DMT is working closely with Abu Dhabi Police and other authorities. The goal is to implement top-tier safety measures, such as protected bike lanes and cyclist-friendly designs, so that riders of all skill levels can pedal with confidence.
More Families Are Taking Up Cycling
Cycling isn’t just for fitness buffs anymore. With the addition of safe and family-friendly pathways, more parents and kids are embracing biking as a fun and healthy weekend activity. Whether it’s a leisurely ride through the city or an energetic sprint, there’s never been a better time to grab your bike and hit the road.
